Water and Well being

We take things for granted till its flow is interrupted. We took cash for granted till the demonetization drive reminded us of its role.
A similar reckoning awaits us when we turn to water.
This Saturday we will have with us Dr.VInod Gaur, renowned hydro geologist and Piyush Manush, water activist from Salem to speak and interact with us on the importance of local community based solutions. ( more info about them at the end of this mail)
Indiscriminate human intervention, in the form of river course diversion, river-bed mining, and damming, has altered the natural flow of rivers. Rampant consumerism has led to large scale ecological damage. While some communities are transiting towards eco-living, mindful consumption and waste disposal, there is a growing need for learners, educators and practitioners to work together and spread awareness in their own localities.
The best way forward would be if people form local networks and focus on local initiatives to protect the environment and keep a check on consumption and waste patterns. Water is the most critical resource issue of our century. The health of our water-systems is the principal measure of how we live on land.
Bhoomi Network and Lifetide plan to work on a pilot project to involve interested people in water conservation and increasing water literacy in the locality around east Sarjapura Road.
Lifetide is a water-based collective focusing on local community mobilisation, water conservation, education and activism.
Come join the ongoing conversation and share your stories about water with all of us and get connected with this or similar projects.
