Workshop on Rainwater Harvesting and Management for Sustainable Farming

Recurring severe drought in Maharashtra and elsewhere is not only because of poor rainfall. A major cause is reduced recharge of groundwater; and ever-rising extraction, often for non-priority use. No wonder groundwater levels are falling sharply almost everywhere. Sensible watershed management has becoming a burning need of our times!

Vanvadi is happy to host a 3 day training workshop on rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge from Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29 2016. This will be conducted by Vasantbhau Futane, seasoned organic farmer and environmental regeneration practitioner of Vidarbha.
The workshop will entail several hours of practical field work in the mornings and evenings – including how to mark out contour lines and make contour trenches – coupled with talks and discussion in the afternoons on plant – soil- water management in farming. Anyone interested is welcome to participate.
Participants would need to reach Vanvadi by 10 AM on Friday, May 27 (or the previous day). The workshop will continue till3PM on Sunday, May 29 2016
A voluntary contribution of Rs 2,000 (inclusive of food and accommodation) is requested for the entire workshop. But less or more is equally welcome. (Please do not let the cost deter you.)
