DESCRIPTION: This Permaculture course is being held on a beautiful site nestled in a valley, located 3 hours from Bangalore. The Timbaktu Kutumbam Foundation Trust (TKF) was formed in the year 2009, with the aim of regenerating a piece of land and begin organic farming. The 100 acres of land has over the years come to be called ‘Kailasam’, named informally after the Sri Kailasam temple located at the far end of the site. The farm at present is growing millets, fruits trees and vegetables, and there is an on-going effort to regenerate and revitalise the land, by improving soil fertility, increasing water availability, and introducing local indigenous varieties of forest trees . Experiments are also being done on Biodynamic Farming methods. Permaculture was introduced to the farm quite recently and so Kailasam is in the beginning stages of Permaculture design & implementation.

We are excited to host a Permaculture Design Certificate Course (PDC) taught by EIGHT certified Indian and Sri Lankan PC Instructors, with support and guest presenting by Rico Zook. This is a one of kind PDC, with multiple teachers from varied parts, coming together to support, teach and learn together with our participants. Each of the teachers is an upcoming Permaculture instructor and practitioner and it is our privilege to host such a unique course in Kailasam.

Since Kailasam is a young Permaculture farm, this PDC is a TENT-ONLY course. please register only if you are comfortable camping, having simple and basic facilities in the beautiful outdoors. There will be an office space for storing any of the participants valuable items if required. You are welcome to bring your own tent, or you can hire a tent from us.

The course is 15 days long, including the arrival and departure dates, and includes a 1 day field trip to another inspiring Permaculture Farm located an hour away from Kailasam, along with a short visit to the Timbaktu Campus. Kailasam Farm is located close to the Bangalore – Hyderabad National Highway, and is 3 hours from Bangalore city, 2 hours from the Bangalore airport and 7 hours from Hyderabad. Cars, buses and trains are the three modes of transport to the site. More information on this will be provided after registration.

Registering for the course will only reserve your space but it is not secured until payment is made. If the course fills up and you have not paid the full amount, your space will be given to someone else. The final payment day is 1 month after you have registered for the course, and the last day for registering for the course is 1st December, 2018.
