Workshop  Details

A ten-day hands-on Natural Building with demonstration and training of methods and techniques.

– Techniques of frame, canopy and roofing, wattle and daub, mud plastering etc.

– Insights into human shelter and a deep understanding of the important role natural building can play in addressing our ecological crises.

– Site visits to various sustainable projects and organizations in Auroville Bioregion.

– Architectural and Heritage Walks in Pondicherry French Town, Tamil Heritage Town, Auroville and Bioregion

– An immersive experience of ecological and community living at the Learning Tribes Campus. Also on the cards are fun stuff like bonfire nights, beach outings, evenings of open mic music, dance and games.

Full Workshop : 5 July (Friday) to 14 July(Sunday)

*Participants are also welcome to come and participate for half-workshop ( 5th July -9th July).

What to Expect:
Be prepared for anything.  That includes rain, sun and of course, getting muddy.  Much of the work will require at least some physical exertion, but we encourage participants to only work as much as they are comfortable.  As much as possible, we will work to provide relaxed, comfortable accommodations.  Basically, prepare yourself for a working camping trip that’s going to be loads of fun!

Accommodation / Food:

Accommodation will be on shared basis, in raised eco-huts of bamboo and keeth. Three delicious vegetarian meals per day are offered to course participants.

What to Bring:
-Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
-A good hat/cap
-Interesting books

If you are camping, plan to bring all of the basic things you’d take with you on a camping trip:
Tent
Sleeping bag/sleeping pad or inflated mattress
Headlamp/flashlight
Sunscreen
Toiletries and towel

Course pricing / bookings:

Full Workshop (10 days) : 12,000/- per person

Half Workshop(5 days) : 8,000/-
