One of the sustainable livelihood opportunities in the off farm arena was to develop an inclusive community based Eco-tourism initiative in two of the valleys that we worked in, Revati (Bageshwar) and Madhuganga (Rudraprayag). This initiative is built on the principles of equity, social justice, and environmental protection by the communities of the various villages itself. With a range of activities being offered to travellers who visit, we are trying to create an atmosphere of your home away from home but in the mountains!! Come visit, contribute to the local economy, help preserve the local culture and forget your city worries while waking up to the Himalayas!
To bring this initiative together we are hosting a Community Festival in the Madhuganga Valley of Rudraprayag called ‘Raibar’ (3rd March to 4th March 2019) which will have a range of activities like village walks, Ringal workshop, Garhwali cooking class and interactions with the local communities in the midst of the Himalayas while staying with local home-stay families.
Rs 6000/- inclusive of travel from Dehradun and back, accommodation and food plus all the activities. (In case one wants to get their own vehicle, they can with a discounted price)
