Lifetide Water festival – Reclaim the commons

The opening of Lifetide [Urban] Water Festival 2018 will be held at Ragi Kana, an urban santhe (market) aiming to provide sustainable livelihoods to farmers, weaver communities and co-operatives.
Here is the schedule for the day.
11 AM: Meet the water workers, enjoy tea and snacks in the garden, and get to know people of the neighbourhood.
12 PM – 1 PM: A talk titled ‘Making Puttenahalli Lake a People’s Lake’ by Usha Rajagopalan, chairperson, Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust is an author and translator.
She has published seven books in different literary genres. She hopes to write a memoir on the subject.
1 PM – 2 PM : Millet based Lunch.
2 PM – 5 PM program is as follows:
‘Spirit of water’, 5 mins introduction to Lifetide by Simar Kohli Das.
Opening film ‘Embedded water’ by Bhavani Gs followed by screening of her other short film ‘Kere Stop’ and a talk by the artist-filmmaker. 45 mins (films, talk and discussion).
‘A lake reborn: The Incredible story of Kyalasanahalli lake’ by Abhishek Maji– 4 mins film. Duration – 4 mins
Showcasing Sansera Foundation’s work for the ecosystem revival of Kyalasanahalli lake within 45 days. Over years, what used to be a 36-acre lake, had been reduced to a shallow pond, mainly because almost 15 acres were encroached. It also tells how this lake can be harvested for rainwater and the benefits it’d shower on the future generations.
